Gladys Anenson: HP’s First Female Machinist

Gladys Anenson was Hewlett-Packard Company’s first female machinist and department supervisor. She arrived at the company in 1943, starting with a brief stint assembling small parts. Impressed by her expertise, the machine shop foreman quickly brought Anenson on as a machinist. Anenson was best known for her precise engraving work, which later led to her promotion to supervisor of the department. In all, Anenson spent 35 years at Hewlett-Packard.
