Protecting the Ozone
Date: 1993
Bob Bell, site engineering manager of the Boise office, urged Hewlett-Packard to cease using ozone-depleting chemicals, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). His efforts led the company to eliminate CFCs and TCA, another ozone-depleting chemical, from manufacturing worldwide in 1993. Cliff Bast of the HP Corporate Environmental Group later awarded Bell with a brass map of the world in recognition of his environmental work at HP.
