Founding Hewlett-Packard Japan

Hewlett-Packard entered Japan with the formation of a joint-venture company — Hewlett-Packard’s first — named Yokogawa Hewlett-Packard. Hewlett-Packard was about a decade ahead of most American tech companies in recognizing Japan’s business potential. Hewlett-Packard would later buy out Yokogawa Electric Works and rename the venture “Hewlett-Packard Japan.”
