Bill and Dave jointly received the Computer Entrepreneur Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) in 1995. The award was granted, “For entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and impact that has served as a role model for the entire computing industry.” It was a fitting tribute to the many innovations through which Hewlett-Packard had advanced the entire industry throughout the founders’ careers, including the development of several IEEE recognized industry standards.
