HP’s Moscow Office Matryoshka Doll
Date: 1993
Hewlett-Packard opened its Moscow office in 1973, and unlike most Western technology companies, it maintained operations there from that point forward. This matryoshka (Russian nesting doll) set represents the reporting relationships for Hewlett-Packard Moscow during the office’s 20th anniversary year (1993). The innermost doll represents the head of the Moscow office, and from there the dolls work their way up the leadership chain to Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard on the outermost doll. (Full order of dolls, from smallest to largest: Nick Rossiter, Peter Kohl, David Baldwin, Franco Mariotti, Alan Bickell, Lew Platt, Dave Packard/Bill Hewlett.)
